Interesting Minera Andes news (MAI.to)

Seems like I'm not the only one that likes the fundamentals on offer at Minera Andes (MAI.to).

Minera has just announced that Rick Clark, CEO of Red Back Mining (RBI.to) is joining the board of directors. Red Back is a smart mid-tier African gold producer (with ops in Ghana and Mauritania). The company produced 127,000oz gold in 2007 and is on course to beat that production figure in 2008. Clark is also director of Atacama Minerals, a junior operating in Chile's fertilizer sector that has recently bought an interesting land package in Brazil. Both companies are part of the Lundin Mining (LMC group), which makes the link-up even more intriguing

Getting a big fish like Clark onto the board of MAI.to is no small achievement, and it does make one wonder if Red Back will play a more important role in MAI's future. and particularly in the massive Los Azules copepr project in Argentina (I've written on this previously). Whatever happens, this can only be classes as a positive for MAI.to, a company currently trading at a very substantial discount to true worth.
