Chart of the day is.....

.....the amount of cocaine confiscated in Bolivia by anti-narco forces, 2000 to date.

yellow = full year totals, red = jan-june totals

Bolivia's FELCN (Special Force in the Fight Against Narcotrafficking, i.e. the Bolivian narcopolice) yesterday published their results for the first six months of 2009 (the red bars show 6 month totals for 2007, 2008 and 2009, yellow bars are full year). Yet again Bolivia has beaten its record confiscation rates, with 15.5MT seized in the first six months of 2009

This is the country that doesn't make an effort to stop cocaine trafficking, remember? Oh, and by the way, 2008 was the year that Evo kicked the DEA out of his country and Bolivia started the patrols all by itself....hey, let's play spot the subtle difference.

So the only question I have left is to ask why English language media continues to tell you lies about Bolivia. Any ideas?

I have no idea why English speaking media is like that. Even here in Ireland which has no reason to carry an agenda, the coverage of the coup in Honduras has been ridiculously one sided. Terms like 'interim government' thrown around the place and no mention of the people killed by this fake government.
I can only suggest that its a throwback to a colonial heritage.

The private (big business) media always has an agenda, wherever it is based. And a pro-people, rather than pro-big-business government, will always be the target of private (big business) media misrepresentation, as the last thing they want to spread is the idea that another way may be working somewhere else.
